If you've been keeping up with the news, you know that we've been getting a lot of rain lately. It's been great for our gardens and the plants that depend on it, but it can be pretty bad for the quality of your outdoor cushions!

When the weather is like this, your outdoor cushions are going to be exposed to more moisture than usual. This makes them more likely to get ruined by mould and mildew— even if it doesn't happen right away, it could happen eventually.

It is super important to keep your outdoor environment clean and free of mould because the spores can cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems, and asthma which could lead to serious health issues down the road.

Mould isn't just gross and inconvenient; Mould is found in both indoors and outdoors in such places as carpet, fabric, and upholstery and these areas can support mould growth. When mould spores drop in areas where excessive moisture present the mould will grow.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A MOULD PROBLEM?

Large mould infestations can usually be seen or smelt.

HOW DOES MOULD AFFECT PEOPLE?

Exposure to damp and mouldy environments may cause a variety of health problem. Some people are sensitive to moulds and for these people exposure can lead to symptoms such as stuffy nose, wheezing and red itchy eyes or skin. It can also cause an asthma attack for those who suffer with lung conditions.

If you want to keep your loved ones and home safe from these mould and mildew issues, it's important that you take steps now to keep your outdoor cushions dry and clean. There are lots of options available: simple things like putting them in storage when they're not being used, using covers on them when possible, or even just vacuuming them off regularly so that any droplets get removed before they have time to grow into something bigger.

Mould on your cushions? It's a problem. But it doesn't have to be!.

Have your outdoor cushions got a funny smell? This can happen!

Investing in high quality outdoor fabrics that are anti mould resistant will help the life cycle of your cushions and keep the family safe.

CUSHION MOLD.
First off, if your cushions have a musty smell or feel damp to the touch, they're probably already infested with mould spores that are causing the problem. To kill off these spores and prevent further growth from occurring, soak the cushion in a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts water for about 15 minutes before hand washing in warm water and at least twice with detergent made for cleaning upholstery fabrics . You might need to repeat this process several times before all traces of mould have been removed from your cushion—but don't worry! It will be  worth it.

Make sure you allow the cushions covers and inserts to dry out completely after the cleaning process either in the sun with good ventilation .....sun is wonderful because mould hates it, or place in a dry room.

If the outdoor cushions covers are clean and free from mould, but the inserts are trashed, replace the inserts as a cheaper option.
